Azurite in silver cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of azurite in silver metal, from Arizona. This is a man-made material, in that it is composed of small rounded nodules of natural dark blue azurite, and includes some dashes of green malachite and red cuprite. I suspect it was made in much the same way as blocks of Mohave turquoise. Wish I could tell you what sort of metal it is forming the background, but I was never told. A single slab was given to me by a dealer, more than a decade ago. This stone is truly unusual, and quite striking in its way, and much more beautiful in hand. It ought to be easy to find a special use for such a unique cab. It has a low rounded dome of 4.5 mm, a graceful designer 'flame' shape, and a smooth reflective polish both front and back.
Size: 55x19mm
Weight: approximately 31 carats
