Stinking Water plume agate cab ~
Offered here is a unique cabochon of white plume agate, from Stinking Water Pass, Oregon. This old stock material is anything but run-of-the-mill, and getting harder to come by all the time, particularly in this above average calibre. I often make these into doublets, adding a thin black basenite backing for contrast, but this stone didn't need that at all. It has a captivating pattern of ornate white plumes, with some showing an attractive rusty-peach blush, suspended in a translucent to milky agate background. Prettier in hand than the photos, by far. The stone has a high rounded dome of 6mm, an elegant designer drop shape, and a glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 40x31mm
Weight: approximately 42 carats
