Royal imperial jasper cab ~
Offered here is an intriguing cabochon of royal imperial jasper, from Mexico. This collectible 'ojitos' material is simply wonderful stuff, another member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. (Ojitos means little eyes in Spanish.) This example features a large orbicular pattern at center, with other rings forming the backdrop, like ripples on a pond. The colors are very attractive shades of sky to teal blues and creamy golden-greens, far more uncommon than most other hues. The backside is just as beautiful, so an open-backed setting would be just the thing. The cab has a rounded dome of 5mm, a versatile designer shape, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
