Eudialyte cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of eudialyte, from Russia's Kola peninsula. Eudialyte is also known by other names, including Lopar's blood, and even garnet feldspar. This example has plenty of lovely wine-red crystal, with just the right amount of black and white matrix to balance attractively. The red areas are semi-translucent, with an interesting crackly appearance. Beautiful! The stone has a nicely rounded dome of 6mm, and a crisp designer 'spear' shape. Except for a few tiny pinpoint pits, mostly on the backside, the cab is finished with a great glossy polish both front and back.
Size: 47x25mm
Weight: approximately 51 carats
