Ocean jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of vintage ocean jasper, from Madagascar, where it was literally mined in the ocean waters near the shore. This example was cut from some of the first rough o.j. I ever saw, and has an appealing pattern of bullseyes in green hues. They stand out nicely against a background of pastel pink and peach, with threads of rosy red. There is some translucence present, as illustrated by the backlit photo. The cab has a well rounded dome of 5mm, and a graceful designer shape, perfectly polished both front and back.
