Montana agate cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Montana agate, found long ago on a gravel bar of the Yellowstone River. This particular stone was cut from a nodule that was part of an old stash of 5 gallon buckets full I lucked into, which I very much enjoyed rummaging through a few years ago. The agate is beautifully translucent, and includes a spray of the classic inky black dots as well as a fabulous pattern of fortifications. I think it's an intriguing example of banded Montana agate, one that shows off even more when backlit, as seen in the last photo. It has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, a designer catseye shape, and a brilliantly glassy polish both front and back.
