Royal imperial jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Royal Imperial jasper, from Mexico. This collectible 'ojitos' material is absolutely amazing stuff, another member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. (Ojitos means little eyes in Spanish.) This example features unusual dual patterning of orbs and streaks in colorful shades of teal blue-green, surrounded by thin bands of olive and pastels of yellowish-lime. The pattern fits the shape of the stone quite well, and the backside is also beautiful, showing a larger teal orb at center. The stone has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, a whimsical designer shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
