Fossil coral cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of fossilized coral, from Indonesia. This fascinating material is something I don't cut too often, though I must say I like it alot. Look closely at the enlarged pics and you'll see it is composed of the highly silicated fossil remains of colonial sea coral, many millions of years old! It has an unmistakeable one-of-a-kind pattern of flower-like starbursts, in lovely pastels of pink, rose, gold and peach. This cab has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, a designer drop shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
