Dinosaur bone cab suite ~
Offered here is a matching foursome of cabochons cut from fossilized dinosaur bone, found in Utah. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. Over millennia, the cells in this fossil bone have been completely replaced with white agate, with blushes of the palest pastel shade of bluish-white. Some of the cores within the cells are a bit more blue to blue-gray. And happily, there is not even a hint of any calcification; this bone is remarkably hard, and is without the frustrating flaws that typically plague gem bone material. The bold webbing is nearly black, so it contrasts nicely. Each of these cabs has a high and well rounded dome of about 7mm, and have a smooth, gleaming polish both front and back.
Size: 62x20mm, 17x13mm pair, 15mm round
Weight: approximately 96 carats total
