Charoite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of charoite, cut from Russian rough purchased by my cousin directly from the importer. This rare purple gem material is found only at a single source, along the Charo River, located in a very remote area of East Central Siberia. This cab features a rippled sort of pattern in purple and lavender, with areas of chatoyance and pools of translucent feldspar. A close look reveals that the dark ribbon is actually composed of a shiny silver metal weaving through the stone, oddly enough. It has a well rounded dome of 5mm, a versatile designer shape, and a super glossy polish both front and back.
