Pietersite cab ~
Offered here is a deluxe cabochon of old stock pietersite, from Africa. This colorful stone is surpringly alive with (my favorite) harlequin type pattern in brilliant golds, with hints of green to blue-green, and spiderweb veins of crimson red. The intriguing brecciated pattern shifts and changes as the stone is turned; just as one area dims, another blazes up, though that quality is mighty tough to illustrate in flat, one dimensional photos. This material is very well silicated and hard, starting to polish up while still in the sanding stages. And as you can see, this example includes a translucent area of a sparkly quartz/agate blend at one edge. The stone is quite perfectly breathtaking in person, and you'll be proud to own it. This one's going to make a real show-stopping item of jewelry, no doubt! It has a nicely rounded dome of 5+mm, a crisp designer 'flame' shape, and an outstanding 'wet ice' polish both front and back.
