Black River agate cab ~
Offered here is a large cabochon of Black River agate, a more recent find that hails from Argentina. This gorgeous shadow agate was cut from the first batch of nodules I got my hands on. It boasts great fortification banding that is partially composed of tiny golden orange dots, a trait shared by some laguna agates. The bands toward the outside show some parallax effect, ie. the bands seem to wiggle as the stones is moved. It also has a pleasing contrast, reminding me of some Lake Superior agates I have known and loved. This cab has a high rounded dome of 8mm, and a gracefully curved designer 'flame' shape that's polished to a glassy brilliance both front and back.
