Linda Marie plume agate cab ~
Offered here is an intriguing cabochon of Linda Marie plume agate, from Oregon. Claim owner Philip Stephenson kindly sent some samples of this, and other, new material to see what fun I could have with it. This example is the first stone I polished up, and I think you'll agree, it has some truly unique frills, plumes and coloration. Rain says that, for her, the lovely green and white shaded plumes bring to mind snow on evergreen trees. But through the camera's eye, I was able to discern that some areas of the plumes have a bubbly look, as if they are composed of tiny, lacy tubes! And most are shadowed with a rich reddish brown hue. The translucent bluish background certainly shows it all off nicely, adding ghostly fortifications around the plumes, and includes a couple drusy pockets too, one ringed with snowy bands, and one not. Easily fancy enough for the simplest of settings, I think, but the sky's the limit! The stone has a rounded dome of about 5mm, and a bold designer 'spear' shape that's polished both front and back.
