Bruneau jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of classic Bruneau Canyon jasper, from Idaho. It features an outstanding pattern of undulating lines and half orbs, one upon another, in rich shades of pastel peach. The orbs contrast nicely against a backdrop of burnt orange background. Sadly, the best of this hard porcelain-like jasper is becoming alarmingly scarce and spendy these days, and last I heard the claim has been regulated out of production for good now. Bruneau jasper remains a favorite, and I love the stuff! It takes an outrageously glassy polish, and when it's beautifully patterned like this cab is, it is sought after by collectors and designers alike. The stone has a low but nicely rounded dome of about 5mm, and a gracefully curved designer drop shape, brilliantly polished both front and back.
