Petrified palm root cab suite ~
Offered here is suite of three matching cabochons cut from petrified palm root, GEM material from Sumatra. This ancient fossil wood is a fascinating piece of the earth's natural history. Here's an interesting detail: The fellow that found it believes that only the buried part of the palm trees were preserved to undergo the fossilization process, because no remnants of the trunks were found. I think it's absolutely gorgeous stuff! These examples have interesting windblown eyes, and tiny jagged pools of bluish agate here and there. The jet black areas contrast nicely with the creamy areas, and contain patches of shiny metallic pyrite for extra added character. Very unique! They ought to make some fabulous items of jewelry. Each of the three stones has a well rounded dome of 6mm, and a designer 'pillow' shape, polished both front and back.
