Description
~ Montana agate cab ~

Offered here is a cabochon of Montana agate, cut from agate found long ago on a gravel bar of the Yellowstone River. This particular piece was selected from an old stash of 5 gallon buckets full I lucked into, which I very much enjoyed rummaging through the summer before last. The agate is quite clear, and contains a few classic dendrites, plus multiple ribbon-like bands of carnelian orange and black, blending to dark brown. Seen through the lens of the stone, some of the black areas have an interesting bluish appearance I find attractive. It's an intriguing example of banded Montana agate, one that shows off even more when backlit, as seen in the last photo. It has a low rounded dome, a plump designer teardrop shape, and a brilliantly glassy polish both front and back.

Size: 40x29mm
Weight: approximately 40 carats

Price: $35.00
