Turquoise ~
Offered here is a cabochon of spiderweb turquoise, from China. This example, cut by Rain, has attractive spiderwebbing with excellent contrast. The bright sky blue coloration is accentuated by deep olive green edgings, set off by the jet black matrix forming the webs. No doubt this material has been stabilized by some hardening process, as is most modern turquoise, but I don't believe it has been subjected to artificial coloring of any kind. It polished like a dream, and will wear wonderfully, without changing over the years. The cab has a beautifully rounded dome of nearly 7mm, a sweet designer 'teardrop' shape, and a smooth glossy polish both front and back.
