Carnelian cab ~
Offered here is a sweet cabochon of fiery Oregon carnelian, also known as orange chalcedony. It features juicy translucent reddish-orange and dark crimson coloration, with a nice display of the internal 'cornflakes' so sought after by collectors. I did what I could to capture the beautiful 'flakes inside this stone, but the saturated color tends to wash them out. The backlit picture reveals them much better, so please be sure to click it up to full size. I think this stone is even more impressive in hand than these photos show, and believe me, carnelian with these beautiful colors is none too easy to come by these days! The cab has an extra high rounded dome of 6mm, a versatile designer shape, and an excellent glassy polish, slick as can be, both front and back.
