Ocean jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of old stock ocean jasper, from Madagascar. This particular ocean jasper came from a huge piece I've had in storage a long time and only cut into after the first of the new year. I found a great variety of patterns in it. This example has a translucent background tinged with pastel pink and green, and speckled with tiny snow white dots. There are actually several bullseyes, but the three in a row are much more pronounced, while the others are rather ghostly. Stones like this make a bold design statement and are always plenty of fun to work with. The stone has a well rounded dome just shy of 7mm, and a designer 'catseye' shape. Despite a few pinpoint voids on the backside, it is beautifully polished both front and back.
