Royal Sahara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a sweet cabochon of Royal Sahara jasper, found a few years back in the North African Sahara desert. This extra fancy stone has intricate ribbons of rich browns, ochres and creamy tans, with charcoal gray and undertones of unusual olive green & slate blue-gray shades. Viewed with a bit of imagination, it's weirdly scenic, a lot like the view one would see when looking out from a long cave, or looking down a very deep hole. This stone has a low dome of 4mm, with a round shape that frames the remarkable pattern wonderfully well. Like all the more familiar porcelain jaspers, it is very hard, so I was able to polish both front and back to a brilliantly glassy mirror shine.
