Deschutes jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Deschutes jasper, from Oregon. A treasured favorite among picture jaspers, this classic old material came directly from the original miner's daughter, and it is now totally mined out and quite collectible. This opalized example has a pleasantly stylized scenic pattern of richly contrasting earth tones of yellows, tans and reddish browns, with a great display of spidery dendrites adding some foliage. The earthy colors look terrific in a setting of silver, though this jasper is certainly worthy of gold; the choice is yours! The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 6.5mm, a plump designer 'flame' shape, and a great glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 58x26mm
Weight: approximately 51 carats
