Queensland agate cab ~
Offered here is a dandy cabochon of Queensland agate, from Australia's famous Agate Creek agate beds. This splendid stone has terrific fortification banding in pleasantly warm shades ranging from raspberry to pink, which blend into complimentary cool shades of purplish blue-gray. I'm told the brilliant color in these Down Under agates is due to the presence of iron, setting them apart from many of their plainer cousins. This one's a real beauty! It has a a nicely rounded dome of 6mm, a designer 'jellybean' shape, and a fabulously glassy polish both front and back.
