Royal imperial jasper cab ~
Offered here is a distinguished cabochon of royal imperial jasper, from Mexico. This collectible 'ojitos' material is simply wonderful stuff, another member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. (Ojitos means little eyes in Spanish.) This striking example features a fascinating orbicular pattern that leaves me wondering just exactly how this jasper was formed. The orbs are artistically arranged, with larger ones containing smaller ones and other odd figures, and an attractive combination of blended pastels of pink, yellow, brown, cream and gray. There's even some pale blue in the rings around the edge, as well as a secondary pattern of subtle 'curtains'. The unique figure fits the shape of the stone quite well, and the backside is also beautiful. The stone has a high rounded dome of 7mm, a plump designer 'flame' shape, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 56x24mm
