Pilbara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a deluxe cabochon of Pilbara jasper, one of the more recent Australian finds. This material certainly cuts striking stones, very artistically marked. This extra gemmy example is very highly silicated. So much so, that it is surprisingly translucent, as you can see by the backlit photo. It still has the familiar coloration of strong yellow streaks on black, with several blushes of salmon red/pink. The cab has a well rounded dome of 5mm, a bold designer 'spear' shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
