Imperial jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Royal Imperial jasper, from Mexico. This collectible 'ojitos' material is simply wonderful stuff, another member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. (Ojitos means little eyes in Spanish.) This gemmy example has just the one orb, and perhaps another ghostly orb within, surrounded by attractive shades of avocado as well as deep forest green gel. As illustrated by the last photo, the dark green areas are surprisingly translucent. The stone has a rounded dome of 5.5mm, a designer drop shape, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
