Royal Sahara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a striking cabochon of the new Royal Sahara jasper, found in the North African Sahara desert a few years back. It's reminiscent of the old Deschutes & Biggs jaspers, often with even wilder patterns. This busy example has rich ochre, tan, cream, reddish brown, blue-gray, charcoal and more, with an attractive greenish undertone. Ribbons of earthy color swirl, wave and switchback through the stone, almost hypnotically, framing orby figures. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 5.5mm, and a versatile drop shape, polished both front and back.
