Hornitos poppy jasper cab suite ~
Offered here is a matching trio of cabochons cut from rare Hornitos poppy jasper, collectible old stock that hails from California. This material has become mighty scarce these days, even moreso than Morgan Hill poppy jasper. These examples have a spotted pattern that really catches the eye. Its creamy pinkish orbs stand out against a contrasting background of deep, rich burgundy. There are a couple web-like veins present, which are quite well healed, so the stones are wholly sound and stable; there are none of the open fractures so common to the poppy jaspers from California's earthquake zones. The large cab has a high rounded dome of 5.5mm, while the smaller pair are each 5mm in thickness. All three have a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
