Petrified palm cab ~
Offered here is an unusual collector's cabochon of birdseye petrified palm root, newly arrived GEM material from Sumatra. This outstanding fossil wood is a fascinating piece of the earth's natural history. This example has a varied pattern of windblown eyes that stand out nicely against jet black, showing some woodgrain and tiny jagged pools of translucent blue agate. Plenty of contrast here, very unique! I like the golden brown patch in the center, which contains a small natural void. No fossil collection is complete without a nice example of this amazing new palm root. But it ought to make a fabulous item of jewelry too. -smile- The cab has a well rounded dome of 6mm, an elegant designer 'flame' shape, and a brilliant polish both front and back.
