Fossil coral cab ~
Offered here is a unique cabochon of fossilized coral, from Indonesia. This fascinating material is something they're just not finding much of these days, particularly in these wild colors, and I must say I like it alot. Crimson, orange, goldenrod, pink and olive green make the pattern stand out beautifully. Without enlarging the pics, one can clearly see the stone's unmistakeable one-of-a-kind flower-like starbursts, hence the name 'flowers of the sea', as it is sometimes known. It is composed of the highly silicated fossil remains of colonial sea coral, many millions of years old! It's at least partially translucent. This cab has a high rounded dome of 7mm, a gracefully curved designer shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
