Rim jasper cab ~
Offered here is a splendid cabochon of rim jasper (or bat cave jasper), from Oregon. This old time material formed in stacked layers, making it great for cameo-type relief carvings. That's why I wanted it, but thought I'd also have some fun with a cab or two. You can see the layers as ringed bands and veils in shades of buckskin on dark chocolate brown, reminiscent of the colors found in jasper from Bruneau Canyon. The stone has a high rounded dome of 6mm, a sweet designer shape, and a brilliantly glassy polish both front and back.
