Indonesian orbicular river jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of orbicular river jasper, cut from a large boulder found in Indonesian. Not much of this material was ever found, and I am lucky to have some decent rough to work with. It bears a remarkably close resemblance to Madagascar's ocean jasper, but generally seems to have smaller orbs. This stone is a fascinating example, with an impressive display of bullseyes and orbs. The colors are a blend of green, brown and yellow that stand out well against a background composed of a translucent mix of agate and quartz, including some that has a greenish tint. There are several drusy pockets adding sparkle to the character of the stone. The stone has a well rounded dome of nearly 6mm, and a crisp designer shape, polished both front and back.
Size: 59x20mm
Weight: approximately 43 carats
