Royal imperial jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of royal imperial jasper, from Mexico. This collectible 'ojitos' material is simply wonderful stuff, another member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. (Ojitos means little eyes in Spanish.) This stone boasts a fascinating pattern of overlapping orbs, stacked one atop the other. The larger central orbs are cream and tan, and rest upon a tight cluster of brighter pink, rose and mauve orbs. Those, in turn, are eged with a band of cream dabbed with rusty orange, which contains the whole pattern nicely. The cab has a high rounded dome of 6.5mm, a crisp designer shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
