Kyanite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of kyanite, from Russia. It may not be apparent in the photos, but this exotic material has some fascinating flash at certain angles. I'm told that pleochroism, though described as 'weak' in kyanite, is responsible for that flashiness. The captivating cornflower blue coloration makes it great for jewelry, so long as one takes a little extra care when setting because it tends to be somewhat brittle. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 4.5mm, an easy to set designer shape, and despite a wee bit of surface irregularity, it has a great glossy polish both front and back.
