Rhodochrosite cab ~
Offered here is an extra LARGE, deluxe cabochon of rhodochrosite, from Catamarca, Argentina. Not easy to come by like it once was, last I heard, the price of rough from this classic location is strictly controlled by the Argentinian goverment. This delicious cab features various shades of rose-pink in an intricately banded zig-zag pattern, with a delightful degree of crystalline translucence. I particularly like how the spiky crystallized bands follow the outside curve, and the tiny metallic flecks. The stone has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, a graceful designer 'flame' shape, and a fine gleaming polish both front and back.
