Fossil coral cab ~
Offered here is an extraordinarily nice cabochon of ancient fossilized coral, from Indonesia. This fascinating material is some of the finest I've ever seen, especially well silicated, with striking patterns, plenty of contrast, and strong coloration. It is composed of the highly silicated fossil remains of colonial sea coral, many millions of years old! This particular stone has a fine display of ornate 'flowers' that remind me of orange slices floating in a punchbowl. It also has a terrific array of colors, including several shades of golden yellow, rose pink, and snowy white. The cab has a high rounded dome of 8mm, a plump designer drop shape, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
