Wave Hill agate cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Wave Hill agate, from Australia's Northern Territory. It's not often that a 'new' material becomes an instant favorite of mine, but these exceptional agates won my heart straight away. This example is a real strange ranger, with fortification bands around the edge in contrasting shades of mauve to pink, framing a nearly water-clear pool of agate/quartz blend. There's a couple of floaters within, as well as a bullseye and some orbs. The clear areas appear to have fine wisps of sagenite, radiating outward. SIMPLY FASCINATING! The uniqueness of each Wave Hill agate makes it a lapidary's fantasy, a collector's MUST HAVE, and I have no doubt it'll be a jewelry designer's best friend. This cab has a low rounded dome of 4.5mm, and a plump teardrop shape, with a nice glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 36x26mm
Weight: approximately 36 carats
