charoite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of charoite, from Russia. Charoite is a rare purple gem material found only at a single source, along the Charo River, located in a very remote area of East Central Siberia. This lovely purple cab features a delightful crushed velvet sort of pattern with areas of excellent pearly chatoyance. This example has been backed with a thin layer of black jade, for added strength. The stone has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, a designer teardrop shape, and a super glossy polish both front and back.
