Royal Sahara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a striking cabochon of Royal Sahara jasper, a recent find from the North African Sahara desert. This amazing porcelain material has so much going for it, it's hard to know where to begin describing it... It's like the old Deschutes jasper, and like Biggs jasper as well, with even wilder, more exotic patterns. This example has swirling ribbons of darkest charcoal blue, rich ochre and creamy tans. I particularly like the darkest markings, and the way they resemble a unearthly figure in this piece. This stone has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, and a crisp designer shape that contains the pattern wonderfully well. Polished both front and back.
