Imperial japser cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of spiderweb imperial jasper, from Mexico. This classic old material is absolutely amazing stuff, a member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. This example has an almost brecciated pattern resembling curtains in shades of avocado and forest green, with creamy old ivory. The background has a striped pattern going diagonally across the stone. The darkest area along the inside curve is surprisingly translucent, though somehow, I left out the backlit photo. The stone has a high rounded dome of 5mm, a graceful designer shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
