Bird of paradise plume agate cab ~
Offered here is a splendid cabochon of old stock Bird of Paradise plume agate, from Mexico. This coveted form of flame agate is pretty scarce these days and I'm fairly certain it was all dug out long ago. It features plumes of crimson red, burnt orange, pink and pinkish-lavender suspended in a translucent agate background. Happily, there are only two small naturally finished vugs near the inside curve. All too often, this type of agate is so riddled with voids, it's almost impossible to cab. The stone has a gracefully curved designer 'teardrop' shape, a well rounded dome of 5mm, and a fine glassy finish both front and back.
