Tahoma jasper cab ~
Offered here is a splendid cabochon of top quality Tahoma jasper, from the slopes of Mt. Rainier in Washington state. The local American Indian name for that same mountain is Tahoma, which translates roughly to 'next to heaven', and it is considered to be a sacred place. So someone chose a great name for this terrific and rare material! This unique cab is a marvelous example, with an intriguing black edged pool of water-level bands down the center, surrounded by plumy clouds in semi-translucent teal blue-gray. Nice golden yellow and brown accents too, some of the best the material has to offer. This stone has next to none of the all too typical fractures; any odd lines are either part of the pattern or quite well healed. The stone has a nicely rounded low dome of 4.5mm, and a crisp designer shape, brilliantly polished both front and back.
Size: 58x19mm
