Royal imperial jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Imperial jasper, from Mexico. This collectible 'ojitos' material is simply wonderful stuff, another member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. (Ojitos means little eyes in Spanish.) This example features a central orbicular pattern reminiscent of ripples on a pond. It is ringed with a pastel reddish orange, which is edged with a bubble-gum pink hue, followed by an outer ring of old ivory. The stone also has a secondary pattern of streaks, rather subtle, like sheer curtains. The pattern fits the shape of the stone quite well, and the backside is just as beautiful. The cab has a low rounded dome of 5mm, a gracefully curved designer shape, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 53x24mm
Weight: approximately 51 carats
