Pilbara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a matching set of three cabochons of Pilbara jasper, from Australia. It was slim pickins at this year's gem shows, and now I hear there won't be any more mined. If that's true, it's a pity because this material certainly cuts striking stones! These examples have bright mustard yellow veins that stand out against a black background. The artful criss-crossing road map pattern really catches the eye, giving these stones tremendous designer potential. The largest stone has a nicely rounded dome of 6mm, while the smaller pair are 4+mm in thickness. Each has a versatile desinger shape, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
