Montana agate cab ~
Offered here is a colorful cabochon of Montana agate, cut from agate found long ago on a gravel bar in the Yellowstone River. This particular piece was selected from an old stash of 5 gallon buckets full I lucked into, which I very much enjoyed rummaging through last summer. This classic stone features an amazing display of orange, yellow and black streams, afloat like fancifully cut ribbons, in a highly translucent agate background. There are some neat greenish shades where the colored areas overlap or otherwise blend. This stone shows off even more when backlit, as illustrated by the last photo. It has a low rounded dome of 4mm, a whimsical shape, and a brilliantly glassy polish both front and back.
