Turritella agate cab ~
Offered here is a fascinating cabochon of turritella agate, from Wyoming. This ancient fossilized material has bunches of of turritella shells, from which it takes its name. The many white shells make a nice backdrop for the one large shell showing cells filled with pale bluish agate, as well as a pair of open druzy pockets adding sparkle. Turritella agate was never a favorite of mine until not long ago, when a rockhound friend shared some of this great old solid stuff with me. It's a joy to work with, fine enough to take an excellent shine. I'm sure you'll like it too, give it a try! The cab has a high rounded dome of 7mm, and a designer teardrop shape that's polished both front and back.
