Pilbara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a set of three cabochons of Pilbara jasper, from Australia. It was slim pickins at this year's gem shows; I hear there won't be any more mined. If that's true, it's a pity because this material certainly cuts striking stones, with contrasting coloration in black, red, white and orange, with a splash or two of bright mustard yellow. The impressively artful criss-crossing road map pattern really catches the eye, giving these stones tremendous designer potential. These cabs have nicely rounded domes of 6mm, curvy shapes, and each has a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
