Moss opalite 3 cab set ~
Offered here is a trio of moss opalite cabochons, from Australia, also known as dendritic opalite. This unusual form of opal features an intricate display of black spidery dendrites which stand out wonderfully against a background of bright lemony yellow. These are all the more desireable because of the large open areas of intense color; too much moss overwhelms the color, making it appear muddy. I've set bright yellow opalites like these in both gold and silver with beautiful results, but I think the contrast of a silver mounting would show it off best. Of course, that's for you to decide!
The large stone has a high rounded dome of 7mm, while the smaller pair are 2.5mm in thickness. Each of these cabs has a designer 'flame' shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
