Montana agate cab ~
Offered here is a large deluxe cabochon of Montana agate, cut from agate found long ago on a gravel bar in the Yellowstone River. This particular piece was selected from an old stash of 5 gallon buckets full I lucked into, which I very much enjoyed rummaging through last summer. The agate is actually quite clear, colored by a series of blotchy ribbony bands and dots in an odd burgundy shade, along with a nice showing of the more typical dark dendrites. Strange grayish white spots within the stone too. This beauty shows off even more when backlit, as seen in the last photo. It has a very high rounded dome of 7mm, a gracefully fluid designer shape, and a brilliant glassy polish both front and back.
