Luna agate cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of luna agate, from Mexico. This classic material keeps turning up at various gem shows, but I can't tell you if this old favorite is being actively mined again or not; I hope so, but meanwhile, I'm just glad to have it! This large example is packed with bullseyes and orbs, along with some tiny druzy pockets. The color, I am told, is due to the presence of fluorite, giving this one purple and lavender shads between the orbs, shadowed with rusty brown. The stone has a well rounded dome of 7mm, a curvy designer 'flame' shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
