yellow opal cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of lovely yellow opal. I suspect this originated near Napa, California, as it seems exactly like some other opal I have from that source. This material is deemed "common" opal because it has no fire, but it is anything but common in the other sense of the term. This example features gemmy translucent lemon yellow coloration, with a faint striped pattern. There is one odd inclusion deep inside the stone that resembles an eyelash, of all things. The cab has an extra high rounded dome of 7mm, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
